pecker
I spent 40 minutes watching a pair of woodpeckers flit about Fillmore street one morning, and this was as close as I ever got to the skiddish birds. The pecked at a large tree, a telephone poll, and one poor guy's siding on his house.

splat wood
A can of sky-blue paint was run over by a car next to this telephone pole, splattering the bottom 4 feet with beautiful patterns of azure drops. Well, I assume a car ran over a bucket of paint, but come to think of it, I guess many other phenomena could explain what happened. Perhaps: (a) Cookie Monster was involved in a gang fight and got shot right by this pole, (b) Zombie Jackson Pollock is haunting our fair c-don, or (c)... It's too early for a third option from me--what else do you think could explain this?
